Registration
We have two ways to participate this year…
It's up to you. Participants can join Paddlepower for all or part of one day (August 23, 2008), or for two days (August 23 and 24th, 2008). For some people, a day's worth of paddling sounds like a tremendous challenge. For others, two days of paddling is a great athletic adventure. Either way, don't let the chance to experience the fun and meaning of this wonderful weekend. Come for all or part of Paddlepower 2008.
For Day 1 paddlers
Paddlepower 2008 begins at the Bedell Bridge State Park in Haverhill NH on August 23, 2008. Registration starts at 8:30. By noontime, paddlers arrive at the Memorial Field in Bradford VT for lunch. An afternoon rest stop takes place about 3pm. By late afternoon, athletes arrive at the Pasture's Campground in Orford NH for a barbeque and evening entertainment.
For Day 2 paddlers
On Sunday August 24th, 2008, paddlers return to the river around 8:30am. A morning rest stop takes place about 10:00am at the North Thetford Boat ramp, in Thetford VT. Lunch is served in Norwich about noon. Paddlers conclude the adventure at the Chieftain Motel in Hanover about 3:00 pm for the closing ceremony. Family and friends of athletes are encouraged to come and cheer them to the finish. (The times and locations listed above are meant as guides and subject to change.)
Anyone can participate, either as an individual paddler or as a team. Participants bring their own canoe or kayak, camping gear, personal flotation device and we supply food, water, sports drink, soda, first aide, entertainment, support and fun. Paddlers are encouraged to bring sun screen and paddling gloves.
A team consists of up to four paddlers. Each can be in their own kayak and paddle the full length of the event, or members can trade-off with each other and paddle for different sections. Each paddler must be 15 yrs of age or older.
Each individual paddler or each team raises a minimum of $500 to participate in Paddlepower 2008. Participants collect sponsorship money from individuals or organizations. These donations are not connected to how many miles are paddled.
