FirePower

FirePower is an event hosted by West Central Behavioral Health in conjunction with PaddlePower, and was developed as a tribute to those who have died by suicide.

FirePower takes place on Sunday, August 24 on the banks of the Connecticut River behind the Chieftain Motel. The gate opens at 10 am and visitors may park at the Richmond Middle School or the Dartmouth Rugby Field, where a shuttle will pick them up throughout the day.

Visitors may participate in a few activities, including tending the "Fire of Hope", attending a workshop at 11am by Catherine Greenleaf entitled "Healing the Hurt Spirit", creating messages of hope for our Memory Board and viewing the NAMI quilt. Local musicians will donate their time and talents from Noon to 3pm. At 3:00 pm the PaddlePower paddlers will land on the banks of the Connecticut River at the end of their 36-mile-journey and we will proceed with a closing ceremony.

Tickets for FirePower are $10 and can be purchased by contacting Heidi.Postupack@hitchcock.org or by calling Heidi at 448-0126 ext. 2100.

Your generous contributions support the emergency mental health services offered to our community by West Central Behavioral Health. Professional crisis counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help people facing difficult or life-threatening situations and guide them to a safe outcome. This service receives about 4000 calls per year from about 2500 people.
